The Troy Sportsplex played host to three all-star warm-up softball tournaments on Saturday, with Troy being represented in all three.
The three tournaments were for the Darlings, Angels and Ponytails divisions, with the Troy Darlings having the best showing of any of the three Troy teams.
The Darlings opened the day with a 25-15 pool play victory over Ozark and a 24-0 win over Zion Chapel in their second pool play game.
The Darlings’ impressive performance in pool play earned them the No. 1 seed for the single-elimination tournament portion of the day, where they defeated Enterprise 19-6 to advance to the championship game against Eufaula.
The Darlings could not bring home the title, however, as they fell to Eufaula by a score of 29-5 and finished in second place.
The Darlings will next play in their sub-district tournament on June 26 in Luverne.
The Troy Angels did not fare as well as the Darlings in pool play, losing both of their games.
Their first loss was a 6-0 game against Ozark, and the second an 8-1 loss against Headland.
The Angels received the No. 10 seed and had to match up against the No. 2 Enterprise, but were able to pull of the upset and defeat Enterprise 5-2.
The win moved the Angles to the semifinals, where they took on Dothan American.
Unfortunately, the Angels were unable to advance to the championship game, as they fell to Dothan American 8-0.
The Angels will now turn their attention to their sub-district tournament in Dothan on June 25.
The Troy Ponytails played hard in their warm-up tournament, but were unable to win a game.
The Ponytails fell to Elba/Zion Chapel 6-5 in their first game of pool play and lost to Auburn 15-0 in their second pool play game.
The Ponytails received the No. 10 seed and were ousted in the first round by Dothan American, losing 10-1.
The Ponytails will look to improve upon their performance in their sub-district tournament June 25 in Midland City.
