If the game was measured in how hard balls were hit, Charles Henderson would have blown out 6A power Prattville.

But the Lady Lions put their hits just out of the reach of Charles Henderson fielders in a 14-1 rout of the Lady Trojans.

Prattville scored five runs in the first and six more in the second to open up a lead the Lady Trojans couldn’t close.

“Prattville only had a couple of balls that were hit really hard,” said Charles Henderson head coach Trent Givens. “Unfortunately one left the park and the other went right down the left field line. The rest of the time they just rolled where we weren’t. Sometimes this game is like that.”

In total, Prattville pounded out 13 hits. Charles Henderson picked up just three.

However, the state line doesn’t tell the entire story.

“We hit the ball well today, although it doesn’t show on the scoreboard,” said Givens. “We had a some doubles, and got some runners in scoring position but it seemed to fizzle out. We have to do a better job when we have runners in scoring position.

Tucker Earles singled in the first inning, Sidney Armstrong doubled in the second and Lindsey Fox beat out an infield hit in the third for the Charles Henderson hits.

The Lady Trojans don’t’ have much time to rest before another 6A team comes calling.

Charles Henderson will travel to Millbrook on Tuesday to meet the Lady Mustangs of Stanhope-Elmore.

While the Lady Trojans are taking their lumps now, Givens feels the team will be better in the long run.

“Playing teams like Prattville, Stanhope and the other good 6A’s we have faced will make us that much more prepared for our area games,” said Givens. “We are excited for area play. The good thing about this sport is turnaround time is pretty quick, and we have to be resilient and these girls are.”

Charles Henderson is slated for a 6:30 P.m. first pitch in Millbrook on Tuesday.
