A man indicted for eight counts of sex offenses has pleaded guilty to two. Terry Cordell Davie, 46, of Goshen, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree assault of a minor including rape. All eight of the counts involved the same victim.
Davie made a blind plea, which means he will forgo a jury trial and be sentenced by Pike County Circuit Court Judge Shannon Clark.
Davie pleaded guilty to the second and third of eight offenses and provided enough details of the incident to substantiate his plea during Tuesday’s hearing. One was a class A felony with a sentence that could range anywhere from 10 years to 99 years, the other a class C felony that could add one to 10 years to his sentence. As part of the plea agreement, the other six counts have been dismissed. All were for similar incidents and either a class A or C felony. Because just one felony could give him life in prison, dismissing the other charges in his indictment will not lessen his sentence.
Clark ordered a pre-sentence investigation and report. The report will be prepared by the Office of Probation and Parole Services and include Davies’ education, employment, criminal and personal history.
