Angels: Dothan American 12, Troy 1: Troy spoted Dothan six runs in the first inning before recording an out, and ultimately fell 12-1 in the Angels District Tournament Championship.

Troy also left the bases loaded twice in the game, and never could battle back from the early defecit.

“We played much better in the second and third inning,” said Troy coach Matt Leverette. “We played a lot better, but we never were able to get out of that hole. Dothan is a great team, and they jumped on us quick.”

Despite the loss, Troy will advance to the Alabama State Tournament in Enterprise next week.

Leverette said his team is excited for the opportunity.

“It has kind of been our motto to finish second,” Leverette said. “We finished second at Sub-District and now second at District. We are just happy to have the chance to keep playing, and will do our best in Enterprise when we get the chance.”
