Kenneth Carter Weekend to be held at Confetti Crate

Confetti Crate in downtown Troy will host Kenneth Carter Weekend from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday. The community is invited to join sisters Mallory and Marley Hughes for a day of “smiles.”
“We want to show our love and support to Confetti Crate artist Deedie Carter as she stands strong by her husband’s side as he fights leukemia,” Mallory Hughes said. “When Confetti Crate opened two years ago, Deedie was one of our first artists. Kenneth has always helped Deedie with her artwork but, in the past year, he has been doing even more and really enjoys cutting out shapes for Deedie’s artwork. That’s something they enjoy doing together. Now, they are going through a tough time together and, at Confetti Create, we want to do something to show them how much we care and how much the community cares.”
Hughes said Saturday will be a day of shared smiles.
“We’ll have a photo booth set up and everybody will be invited to share their smiles with Kenneth and Deedie,” she said. “For a $5 donation, you can have your picture taken and included with those that will be sent to Kenneth and Deedie in support of them as they go through these difficult times. Hopefully, the photographs will bring smiles to their lives.”
And, there’s no reason to come to the event dressed to the nines.
Mallory and Marley Hughes will have “attire” available that can be mixed and matched to create looks that are smile-guaranteed.
“We want this to be a fun day for those who participate and one that will bring smiles and laughter to Kenneth and Deedie,” Hughes said. “Right now, Kenneth is home, so while he’s taking a break from treatments, we want to treat him with a day of smiles.”
Kenneth Carter prayer bracelets will be available for a donation of $2 or any amount one wants to donate.
All proceeds from Kenneth Carter Day will go to the Carter family.
Confetti Crate is located at 201 East Walnut Street in downtown Troy, just up the street from the Johnson Center for the Arts, which is the former Troy Post Office.
