Symantha Griffin was inspired in August of 2008 to build her figure into a championship form. Griffin went to watch Brian Arrington compete in a figure competition and was driven to compete herself.
On May 30 Griffin took a step towards winning a title. She placed third in the Open Class of a figure competition in Mobile. The meet was the first of her career.
“I have always liked how women look with muscles, but not overblown,” Griffin said. “I weighed 130 pounds when I started working out at Walt’s Gym about a year ago and I walked on stage at 106. I went on a diet and lost a lot of body fat and it felt great.”
Griffin owns The Freckled Frog and said it was hard work dedicating her life to working out, but she has a message for others who think they do not have the time.
“If I can get into shape, then anyone can do it,” she said.
Gym owner, Walt Edson, agrees with Griffin.
“The biggest thing is that this shows working out is for everyone,” Edson said. “Samantha owns The Freckled Frog and she is able to keep up with the business and crunch time to make it to the gym. It is phenomenal what she has accomplished in one year and we are so proud of her.”
