The Eagles’ volleyball team continues on with their winning season beating Highland Home in three straight matches Tuesday night.

The Eagles beat the Flying Squadron in three straight games with scores of 25-17, 25-9 and 25-8.

“They played well. It was an important game for us, and it was a team effort.

We played in Errington Monday night. Errington won the first two games, and to tell you the truth, I didn’t know if we could come back and win.”

Although Warrick said it had been touch and go for the team in Errington, she said the team were able to pull out a win that ultimately left them emotionally and physically drained going into their game against Highland Home.

“We had to play with everything we had Monday,” Warrick said. “Errington is just a scrappy team, and that took a lot out of us Monday night. It was a really emotional win. So we were really tired coming into our game with Highland Home.”

Considering the draining game the night before, Warrick said her girls were still able to push through and bring home a win against the Flying Squadron.

“Carmen Kelly had pretty good night,” Warrick said. “She had a great night setting. Katie had 12 attempts, meaning she hit it hard but they were able to dig it out, and she also had seven kills. Casey Allen also had another good night. She had seven attempts and four kills. Ellie Stokes had four kills. Fran Warrick had 10 kills, and one dig.”

Overall, Warrick said she was proud of how her team had progressed through the season, but she said she the team was continuing to work on getting faster while on the court.

“We need to move our feet faster,” Warrick said. “We have been working on that since the season started. When we got beat by New Brockton, because we were being sloppy. That almost caught up to us in Errington, too.”

The Eagles are currently 7-1 for the season, and look to continue their winning streak facing the Luverne Tigers tonight at home at 4 p.m.
