PCHS falls to WCHS

CHATOM — Pike County managed to end Washington County’s streak of six straight shutouts but the No. 2-ranked Bulldogs went on to a 47-6 blowout victory Friday night to complete their first undefeated regular season since 1969.
Pike County’s touchdown came on a 68-yard kickoff return by Corey Batie early in the fourth quarter to make it 34-6.
Pike County (6-3), which is heading to the 3A playoffs, was held to 74 yards of offense, 65 of that through the air.
Washington County’s DeAnthony Holcombe ran for 160 yards on 24 carries and scored twice, Deandra Smith added 83 yards on just 9 carries, Corey Donaldson scored on a 46-yard run late in the game and Cameron Moss punched in a 2-yard TD run.
Quarterback Bailey Brown threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Braxton Kinsey and ran for two scores, including a 29-yard scamper on the Bulldogs’ opening drive.
WCHS (10-0) will host Vincent in the first round of the 2A playoffs on Nov. 7.
