Nine Trojans named to All-Sun Belt team

Montres Kitchens, Chandler Worthy and Terence Jones were all named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Team, the league office announced Wednesday.
Dalton Bennett, Brandon Burks, Bryan Holmes and Tyler Roberts were also honorable mention selections to the All-Sun Belt Team, and Brandon Silvers was named to the Sun Belt Conference Newcomer Team.
Kitchens, whose year was highlighted by a three-interception performance game at Idaho that landed him on ESPN’s Top 10 plays countdown, was chosen as an all-first team defensive back.
Worthy, who returned a kickoff for a touchdown in two consecutive weeks this season, was selected as an all-first team return specialist.
And Terrance Jones, who was an anchor on the Trojans’ offensive line his whole career while tallying 44 career starts, was named to the All-Sun Belt second team as an offensive lineman.
Silvers, who blossomed in his first year as the starting quarterback for the Trojans, set the NCAA FBS record for completion percentage by a freshman, breaking Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford’s previous mark of 69.5 percent in 2007.
Dalton, a junior offensive lineman, has started 24 straight games thusfar in his career at Troy.
Junior running back Burks rushed for 584 yards and three touchdowns in the 2014 season, highlighted by a 176 yard day againt New Mexico State in October.
Holmes, who proved to be Silvers’ best deep threat in 2014, became the first Troy player since 2006 to have two touchdown catches of over 41 yards in a game.
And Roberts, the Hoover, Ala., native, finished ninth in the Sun Belt with five sacks.
