Eloise L. Singley

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, Mississppi for Mrs. Eloise L. Singley, 91, of Troy, Ala. who went to be the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 3 in Troy. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Visitation will be held beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Colonial Funeral Home.

A life-long resident of Columbia, she moved to Troy, Ala. to be closer to her son, David Barnes. She was born on Jan. 25, 1924, to Rex and Emily Odie Langston of Prentiss, Misssissippi. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Columbia, where she was member of the Lydia Sunday School Class. She sang in the choir and in a number of ensembles, but was best known to have served others in song at funeral services throughout Marion County over the years.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband Seaborn Singley; a brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Mary Langston and a grandson, Matthew Harris Barnes.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Dianne Barnes of Marietta, Ga. and David and Day Barnes of Troy, Ala.; four grandchildren, Allen Barnes (Kristen), Emily Piersant (Tim), Anna Farris (Rhett) and Ward Barnes and six great grandchildren.

Her sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, Columbia.
