Sav-A-Life will hold its annual Fundraising Auction and low country boil and grits bar on Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at Park Memorial United Methodist Church.
Around 200 items will be auctioned at the event. Auction items such as vacation stays, golf clubs, a power drills, leaf blowers, electronics, an iPad, custom-made birdhouses, gift cards, collectible and more will be available to bid on at the auction.
“The birdhouses are more gorgeous than they’ve ever been,” said Jane Ward, executive director at Sav-a-Life.
Angi Horn Stalnaker will be the guest speaker. She will be telling her own story of her son being born prematurely at 20 weeks and how it touched her life. Stalnaker is currently working on a project called “Preemies live, love and matter.”
The Scratch Band will be returning at the entertainment for the auction, and Sheila Jackson will be a special guest performer.
“The auction is our major fund raiser each year,” Ward said. “We have needs just to keep the facility going such as buying pregnancy tests, information for the women, office equipment and things to keep our day-to-day operation going.” Ward said that all services from Sav-A-Life are free, and they want to make sure they keep it that way.
In addition to the auction, there will be a Big Green Egg giveaway. Anyone who brings disposable diapers will be entered into a drawing for the grill.
Ward said the group hopes to raise funds for an expansion to a bigger building and to provide additional services in Brundidge.
“We want our services to be available to women who live in Brundidge who may not have transportation,” Ward said.”
Tickets are currently on sale for the auction. Single tickets are $20 and couple tickets are $45. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Sav-A-Life at 334-566-2880.
