The Charles Henderson softball team rallied from a 4-0 deficit and, in its second game, held on to a 2-0 lead as the Lady Trojans finished the first day of the Troy Classic 2-0, defeating Alabama Christian Academy 6-4 and Thorsby 2-1.
In the first game of the double header, Charles Henderson found itself down 4-0 late in the game to ACA. But with the game on the line, the Lady Trojans’ bats came alive, highlighted by two solo home runs to give them the dramatic 6-4 come-from-behind victory.
“We were losing four to nothing and we had some very timely hits,” Charles Henderson head coach Heather Mitchell said. “We knocked on the door, we get people on and we moved them. In the last inning when we needed something big to happen, we had two girls hit solo home runs.”
In the nightcap, Charles Henderson was able to take an early 2-0 lead over Thorsby on its way to a 2-1 win.
The Lady Trojans will advance to single-elimination play Saturday afternoon, with games beginning at 12:30 p.m.
