It pains me greatly to say this.

But at this point in the NCAA basketball tournament, there is no one else capable of stopping the Mack truck that is Kentucky basketball.

Might as well line up your couches for burning now and plan on being sick from work on April 7th, Big Blue Nation.

Because right now, no one else compares to you.

I am a self-admitted hater when it comes to sports.

I often root against the favorites and grow strong disdain for perennial contenders and winners.

To me, it is just boring. I just get sick of seeing the same teams win over and over again. Let’s mix it up and see someone else win a championship for once.

College basketball media across the country have been championing the “Will Kentucky make it to 40-0” story as the greatest sports story ever told.

I’m not as easily impressed.

Yeah, Kentucky is good. But how is that a good story? I could probably replace John Calipari as head coach of the Wildcats and probably win at least 20 games with the loaded roster he has right now. Sure, it would be impressive for Kentucky to finish 40-0 and win a title, but let’s stop pretending that this is such a great storyline. Outside of Lexington, I have a hard time believing college hoops fans are going to be glued to their televisions to see whether or not the Wildcats will win a title.

But no matter how much I root against Kentucky, it’s inevitable. The Wildcats will win a title.

The depth that Kentucky possesses is just obscene.

Through their first two games of the tournament, it seemed as though the Wildcats’ sixth, seventh and eighth players coming off the bench could still beat many teams’ starting five.

Now, when I take a look at the rest of the field, who else is there to beat Kentucky?

Notre Dame has been chosen as the consensus favorite to give the Wildcats the best run for their money.

But the Fighting Irish are lucky to still be alive in the tournament. They nearly lost to Northeastern in the first round and should have lost to Butler in the round of 32 had Butler been able to play with a lead.

Whether or not they will even advance past Wichita State to meet the Wildcats is up in the air.

West Virginia, in my opinion, will give Kentucky a hard time on Thursday, but at this point, when a team is on, they’re on.

And Kentucky is firing on all cylinders now.

It will take 40 minutes of absolutely flawless basketball for any team to beat Kentucky. And no one in this tournament is capable of that.

That’s the beauty about this year’s Kentucky team. They don’t have to play flawless for 40 minutes, because they will suffocate you in the final 10 minutes of a game.

But everyone else? Better hope you play the best game of your life against the Wildcats.

Otherwise, you’re bound to get run over.

I can’t deny it anymore: Kentucky is the best team in this tournament. Not even close.
