Students from the Pike County Boys and Girls Club were in for an adventure when they took a trip to Camp Butter and Egg on Friday. More than 30 kids traveled with the club to experience the thrills of zip lining, laser tag, dodge ball, the climbing wall and the giant swing.
“Camp Butter and Egg offers something that we can’t offer at the Boys & Girls Club,” said Wayne Buchanan, director of the Boys and Girls Club. “This gives the kids an opportunity to get exposure with zip lining and all sorts of activities that we are not able to do at the club. Now that we have transportation, it opens up more opportunities to allow our kids to explore other programs and activities.”
Buchanan said that the boys and girls have been excited all week in anticipation of the outing.
“Excitement has been building up all week,” Buchanan said. “We’ve really been pumping it up at the Boys and Girls Club during our assembly time and announcing the trip. They’ve really been excited about it, and they’ve been looking forward to it.”
C’Asha Neal said she was nervous to try zip lining for the first time.
“I’m nervous because I’ve never been on it,” Neal said. “But I’m excited because I saw it on TV once, and it looked scary because you float all the way.”
Coming off of her first zip line, Neal was all smiles, running to begin the second line.
