Vickie Winans, an award-winning gospel singer, will be performing a live concert Saturday at Claudia Crosby Theater at the Troy University campus.
“We wanted to bring something different to the area,” said Brandon McClure, president and CEO of Lending Voices Gospel Choir. The choir is the sponsor of the event. “We want people to come out and have a good time.”
The concert will begin at 6 p.m. with the doors opening at 5 p.m. The concert is expected to end around 9:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through Friday at 12:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at Flo’s Kitchen, Step In Style in Troy or at the door Saturday night.
Several local special guests will open the show. Each group will have approximately 15 minutes to perform before Winans takes the stage.
The Troy University Gospel Singers will open the show, followed by Chapter Seven, The Pike County Male Chorus, Lynntesha Roberts and Evangelist Minnie Johnson.
McClure said that he hopes the event will bring hope to members in the community.
“I hope the event will make people believe that God is real and that He can do all things,” McClure said. “My main focus is that people walk into their healing and receive a blessing from this great event, not just come to a concert.”
The Lending Voices Gospel Choir plans to bring even more big names to the Troy and Pike County Area such as Kirk Franklin and Rance Allen.
“Troy can do big things, too,” McClure said.
“We want to be able to prevent people from having to drive far out to Atlanta or Birmingham to see a good event.”
After talking to Winans, McClure said that she is excited to be able to come to Troy.
“She is excited about coming to this area,” McClure said.
McClure’s assistant, Shabrell Reynolds, said everyone should expect a great performance Saturday night.
“The audience should expect a power-packed performance,” Reynolds said. “There will be a lot of talent there.”
