The Troy Arts Council will present the Shelia Jackson and Friends Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. Friday, December 11, at the Claudia Crosby Theater on the campus of Troy University.
Dr. John Jinright, TAC presenter chair, said the arts council looks forward to bringing Shelia Jackson to the stage each year at Christmastime.
“The Shelia Jackson and Friends concert is the Troy Arts Council’s most popular event each year,” Jinright said. “Shelia is the musical ambassador for Pike County and everyone looks forward to her holiday concert. She brings a large number of her talented friends to the stage with her. It is always an amazing concert and it has become a holiday tradition for many.”
Jinright said the annual holiday concert introduces an array of talented singers and musicians and is a celebration of the talent within the local area.
Back on stage will be the Henry Everett and Company band. Joining Everett will be David Everett, Larry Thomas, Mike Tyner, Carious Moore, Theo Smith, Willie B. Williams, Jr., Breanna Guice, Malachi Everett, Henry Terry and guest musicians.
“The singers will be familiar to those who have attended the concert,” Jackson said. “Christine Barron, Dorsey Fayson, Adrienne Barron and Connell Barron all have incredible voices and I love to sing with them and to hear them sing.”
Special performing concert guests will include Marvin Pearson and the singing preachers, the reverends Earnest Green, Sam Green, James Oliver, Larry Bland, C.P. Nobles and Kelvin Griffin.
“Tori Lee Averett, Quinton Cockrell and Tommy Newman will also be special guests at the concert,” Jackson said. “The Troy University Dancers will be back by popular demand. And, we’ll have the Children’s Chorus and it will be wonderful. We are working hard to make this year’s concert one of the best and we have wonderfully talented people who can make it the best.”
Jackson said she is blessed to have friends who are contribute their time and talent to the Shelia Jackson and Friends Holiday Concert.
“There are too many people to name but I’m thankful for all of my friends on stage and for the support of the community,” Jackson said. “I’m looking forward to the show and hope that it will be a special part of the Christmas season for all of those who come.”
