Police are looking for the individuals who shot into a passing car on Gibbs Street at lunchtime Tuesday.

The incident took place around noon on Gibbs Street, between Butter and Egg Road and Highway 29, said Troy Police Chief Randall Barr.

“We actually received a report of shots fired from another location,” he said. “When officers responded, they discovered the vehicle that had been shot multiple times and determine the incident took place on Gibbs Street.”

Barr said more than one person was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, but no one was injured. The shots appeared to have been fired from the sidewalk, and the chief said multiple casings were covered at the scene.

“It’s still under investigation, but charges are pending,” he said, declining to elaborate.

It was the second report of shots being fired within the past 72 hours. Barr said officers also responded to reports of shots being fired Sunday night at Wooddale Apartments on North Folmar Street.

“No one was injured and the incident remains under investigation as well,” Barr said.

While he declined to specifically link the two incidents, Barr said officers are investigating possible connections between them. “It’s possible,” he said.

It’s at least the third report of shots being fired in the past two weeks. The first report took place Friday, Nov. 27, on South Knox Street, shortly after a shooting at the Autumn Ridge Apartments that left a 19-year-old Troy man dead.

Leon Terrell Flowers, 20, of Troy, was arrested Nov. 29 and charged with murder. A juvenile was arrested Dec. 1, also charged with murder. Both were being held in the Pike County Jail, each on a $100,000 bond.

At the time, Barr said officers believed the two incidents were related. No one was injured in the South Knox Street incident.
