The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans held Rehobeth to just eight first half points and rolled to an easy 50-21 win on Friday.

Head coach Dyneshia Jones called the game the team’s first big test.

“That was first test when it comes to accomplishing our goal,” coach Jones said. “You never what can happen in a game. Everybody can shoot. We didn’t want to come out with too big of a head. We wanted to stay focused.”

With the help of blocked shots and a prolific offense, the Trojans dominated the first half.

The Lady Trojans (20-1) held Rehobeth to just 2 points in the opening quarter. The Trojans took a commanding 18-2 lead into the second quarter.

“They did a great job in the second quarter,” coach Jones said. “They adjusted really well on defense and played man-to-man. They played really well.”

Offensively, the shots that were going in the basket in the first quarter stopped. Rehobeth was able to win the quarter 6-3 and went into the locker room at halftime trailing the Trojans 24-8.

“It was impressive how the defense played,” coach Jones said. “They stayed with it and stayed focused like I told them to.”

India Blakely brought the spark back in the third quarter. Blakely scored six in the quarter and Jones added four, pushing the Trojan lead to 43-17.

“India did her part,” coach Jones said. “She had good leadership I was able to sit her down for a quarter, something I would love to be able to do for every game.”

With the outcome having already been determined the Trojans didn’t have to do much in the final quarter to secure the win.

Blakely led the Trojans in scoring with 16 points while Niaira Jones finished with 10.

The Trojans will head to Brundidge to take on rival Pike County Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m.
