Betty Jean Williford Carter

Betty Jean Williford Carter, age 86 of Troy entered Heavens Gates Sunday, February 21, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Betty Jean Williford Carter was born March 26, 1929 in Troy, Alabama to Lewis Alexander and Norma Hill Williford. She loved the Lord and her family and was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Troy. Always quick to tell a joke, she also loved the puzzles in the daily papers. Assisting the area farmers through her job also gave her great pleasure. After over 30 years of employment she retired as an agricultural secretary with theĀ ASCS.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Green Hills Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Alsup and Reverend Kevin Beck officiating. Special music will also be provided by Reverend Kevin Beck. The Green Hills Carriage will take her to her gravesite in the Green Hills Cemetery following the chapel service. Visitation will be held Monday, February 22, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Green Hills Funeral Home in Troy.

Survivors include; daughters, Deborah Carter Beck (Douglas) Northport, Al., Elizabeth Carter Mitchell (John Wiley) Troy, daughter- in-law , Deedie Hobbs Carter of Troy, 6 grandchildren; Chris (Missy) Beck, Kevin Beck, Whitney Mitchell (Eric) Jordan, Andrea Domizio (Allen) Maness, and Kasee Carter (Hunter) Mann, also 5 great- grandchildren, her brothers; Hubert (Pat) Williford, Pensacola, Fl., Richard (Deborah) Williford, Wetumpka, sister- in-laws, Mary Alyce Sanders of Goshen, Sarah Jones of Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Alexander and Norma Hill Williford, her husband of 54 years, Asa Melton Carter Jr., son, Kenneth Melton Carter, sister, Suzanne Williford Tinnea and brothers, David Williford, and Lewis Hill Williford.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Chris Beck, Kevin Beck, Cole Mitchell, Eric Jordan, Allen Maness and Hunter Mann. Honorary Pallbearers will be Felicia Smith, Shirley Daniels and her former colleagues at the ASCS office.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Troy, Pike County Relay for Life, or the Pike County Heart Association.
