Goshen starting pitcher Landon Wilkes pitched a no hitter in Goshen’s 13-0 win over Hillcrest-Evergreen on Friday.

The win for the Eagles improves their record to 1-3 on their season and it came in the way of them improving on their early season struggles.

“We were just trying to find our confidence,” said Eagles head coach Robby Kinsaul. “I thought that helped us out a lot tonight. We hit the ball well and we pitched the ball really well tonight.”

Wilkes struck out 14 out of the 15 batters he faced during the five-inning game.

“He was dealing tonight,” Kinsaul said. “His curveball was working for him. He never got behind in any of his counts, which is always good. I am just really proud of how he threw the ball.”

The Eagles batted around in the first inning and had four players come across the plate. They followed that up with nine hits in the second to blow the game wide open.

“We had several gappers tonight which is always good,” Kinsaul said. “I am just proud of how we played tonight. We finally caught some breaks. Beside the first game we played well we just haven’t caught any breaks. Tonight we were fortunate enough to have some breaks.”

Dalton Bunce, Hunter Williams and Adam Turner all finsihed with two hits a piece.

The Eagles will be in action again on Monday when they travel to take on Greenville.
