Brundidge City Manager Britt Thomas said the bid also included an alternate for construction of a sidewalk on Hillcrest Drive by Pike County Elementary School.

The council reviewed the city financials for the first quarter of FY2016.

Thomas said the financials are tracking as they should be. He said the wholesale cost of power is helping to keep expenses down. The wholesale power cost should remain steady, he said.

Thomas altered the council to a company that has transformers for sale a reasonable price. He said the city could basically get a new substation by adding transformers.

By adding the transformers, the power dependability to the residential areas would be increase in the event of outages. The cost of the transformers would be around $200,000.

“The transformers would be much less expensive than a new substation,” Thomas said.

Present for the meeting were Mayor Jimmy Ramage and council members Betty Baxter, Margaret Ross and Cynthia Pearson. Council members Arthur Lee Griffin and Steven Coleman did not attend.

The Brundidge City Council meets at 4 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of the month at Brundidge City Hall. The meetings are open to the public.
