Troy’s Office of Public Relations and Tourism has canceled today’s Brown Bag on the Square lunch event in downtown Troy.
Shelia Jackson, public relations and tourism director, said temperatures are projected to hit in the high 90s during the day.
“We realized that some people might not know how hot it could get and come to Brown Bag and be very uncomfortable in the heat,” Jackson said. “We want the Brown Bag events to be fun and, if the temperature reaches 98 degrees, it just won’t be fun to be outside.”
Jackson said the Brown Bag series will continue at noon on Thursday, July 14, on the Square in downtown Troy.
“It won’t matter how hot or how cold it gets on July 14, we’ll have Brown Bag anyway,” she said. “We’ll make plans now to have Brown Bag in The Studio if the weather doesn’t co-operate.”
Jackson said she regrets that today’s Brown Bag event had to be canceled and apologizes for any inconvenience it might have caused.
“Brown Bag is a popular event and we are looking forward to continuing the series in July,” she said.
