The Pike County Board of Education met in a called meeting Wednesday to consider the superintendent’s recommendation for a non-renewing contract.

Pike County Superintendent of Education Dr. Mark Bazzell requested that the recommendation be changed to the termination of the contract of a probationary principal.

The board accepted Bazzell’s recommendation and voted in favor of the termination of the contract of Sylvia Haslam as probationary principal of Pike County Elementary School. Tracy Arnold will be the interim replacement.

Present for the meeting were Bazzell and board members, Linda Steed, Wyman Botts, Chris Wilkes and Earnest Green. Not attending were Dr. Clint Foster, board president; and Dr. Greg Price.
