People in Pike County just don’t know how lucky they are.

Not many people have the opportunity to see the Annie Moses Band in concert in their own backyard, but it’s happening here tonight at the Claudia Crosby Theater on the campus of Troy University.

The Troy Arts Council will present the internationally acclaimed Annie Moses Band in concert at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $20 and $5 for students with an ID. Tickets will be available at the door.

John Jinright TAC presenter chair, said the Annie Moses Band travels with around 11 people and a huge amount of equipment. It would not have been possible to bring them to Troy if it were not for the support of the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the cooperation of the Gulf States Presenters Association.

“Working together, it is possible to bring cultural arts entertainment to this area that would not be possible otherwise,” Jinright said. “Having a band perform several times in the general area reduces the costs for everyone.  We are extremely fortunate to have the Annie Moses Band in concert here in Troy.”

Jinright said there are six or more people in the band and they are all related in some way.

“Annie Moses is the lead singer and plays many different instruments,” he said. “And all of the band members are world class singers so expect to be amazed by the sounds of their voices and expect to hear a lot of beautiful music.”

Jinright said the band instruments will include a large harp that will provide a unique sound to the music. 

“The band will present their newest show, ‘The Art of the Love Song’ at the Crosby Theater,” Jinright said. “It’s their newest creation and features many of the greatest love songs ever written. You will fall in love with this music.”

Jinright said Mack Gibson, a strong supporter of the arts, is probably more excited about the Annie Moses Band than he, if that’s possible.

“Oh, goodness gracious,” Gibson said. “This band is phenomenal. Mary and I saw them at the Celebrators Conference in Tennessee and they are just amazing. I can’t believe that we are going to get to see them again and right here in Troy.”

Gibson said anyone who misses the Annie Moses Concert will have missed seeing and hearing one of the most incredible bands of the times.

“It’s different; it’s spectacular. So turn off the television, turn off your cell phone and enjoy a night of amazing music by a group of talented people. They are all members of the same family and the audience will be blown away by their talent,” he said. “You will not be disappointed.”
