The installation of a turn lane on U.S. Highway 231 to connect to the extension of George Wallace Drive has caused some delays in the busy highway.
Melissa Sanders, administrator of planning and zoning for Troy, said that the city is requesting patience from the citizens while the work is being completed.
“The addition of a turn lane on Highway 231 will be a great benefit to travellers,” Sanders said. “The Enzor Road Connector Project is a huge project and I’m so thankful for the vision of Mayor Jason Reeves for bringing this to fruition.”
Sanders also requested residents to be mindful of construction workers and other drivers in the area while the roadwork continues.
Project Engineer Tim Ramsden estimated that the work on the turn lane will be finished within 30 days.
Businesses along the stretch of highway remain open during regular business hours.
