When the gates of the Pike County Fair closed Saturday night, the members of the sponsoring Troy Shrine Club put the stamp on another successful county fair.

The county fair opened on Tuesday night with a good crowd and the numbers increased throughout the week.

Homer Homann, club president, said the crowds were good and all the people were happy.

“The people walked out with smiles on their faces,” he said. “They were happy; we were happy.

“The Troy Shrine Club would like to thank all of those who helped make the Pike County Fair a success. The participation by the community was great also and we want to thank everyone.

“We’ll send a good-size check to the Shriners Hospitals for Children and we also awarded $4,000 in prize money to our exhibit winners. The people of Pike County made that possible.”

Homann said the Shriners were pleased with the quality of the entries in the creative living and Cattle Barn divisions of Blue Ribbon competition.

Blue Ribbons were presented to the first place winners in all divisions. Several exhibitors won more than one Blue Ribbon.

In the adult categories Melodie Lauer was awarded the most Blue Ribbons with 19. Pat Warren took home 10 Blue Ribbons and Sharon Childs, nine. Other Blue Ribbon winners were Lorraine Dunnum, eight; Diane Brown, Diane Johnston, Barb Homann and Samantha Earnest, six each; Mary Martin and Doristine Sankey, four; Denise Douglas, three; Donna Smith, two; and Wilmer Lopez, Amada Lopez and Brittany Roberts, one.

At the Cattle Barn, Alois Flowers won six Blue Ribbons. Brenton Maddox won five and Dan Perkins, Marilynn Perkins, Max Copeland, Rylee Copeland, Mary Copeland and Crystal Thomas, received one each.

In the student divisions, at Covenant Christian School, Lola Drinkwater was awarded three Blue Ribbons. Also taking home Blue Ribbons were Paisley Durant, Averie Register, Mallory Grace Sanders, Gabe Jones, Bella Casey, Trey Drivas, Reagan Worley, William Yarbrough, Rachel Worley, Cooper Johnson, Clay Johnson and Peyton Elliot with one each.

Mary Samson Dunn, Troy Elementary School, was awarded two Blue Ribbons. Sarah Taylor, Sofia Valencia, Alyssa Anderson, Mikiya Richardson, Cedric Brown, Brooklynne Moran, Yolanda Mitchell, John Mark Challancin, Jalaya Martin and Kaitlyn Davenport all received a Blue Ribbon.

Sixth graders at Troy Elementary School who won Blue Ribbons were Morgan Barron, Tatum Brook and Elise Curry.

At Charles Henderson Middle School, Kaylee Mizell, Kassidy Mizell, John B. Sanders, Kiley Sandoval and Gracie Moran won Blue Ribbons.

Amari Terry at Pike County High School was awarded two Blue Ribbons. Schoolmates Ally Roberts, Jakiyah Ousley and McKenzie Caple also took first-place honors and received a Blue Ribbon.

Kase Chirico, Pike Liberal Arts, won two Blue Ribbons at the county fair. Evie Pearsons, Graham Williamson, Ally Rushing, Ella Baker and Sarah Sanders received a Blue Ribbon each.

Lexi McLendon, Goshen, and Jordyn Banta, Zion Chapel, were also Blue Ribbons winners.
