The Pike County School System will host its 9th annual Pike County Schools Parent Expo from 5:30 until 7:30 tonight at Cattleman Park. All students and families that are served by the Pike County School System in Banks, Brundidge and Goshen are encouraged to attend.
“Each school will present various showcases at the Expo,” said Dr. Donnella Carter, administrative assistant to the superintendent. “The Expo also affords a closer look at the specialty programs offered including our web-based programs. We will even have demonstrations of some of the things that the kids do.”
Each parent is encouraged to visit at least three showcases.
“At each showcase visited, the parents will have their hands stamped and those who have three stamps will be able to pick up free school supplies and resources for each child they have in the Pike County School System,” Carter said.
The Expo will feature a Fun Zone for kids that has inflatables and games.
“The Fun Zone will keep the kids entertained while the parents focus on the showcases,” Carter said. “We’ll also have a hotdog meal for all those who attend.”
Several agencies that serve children in Pike County will have information booths and someone available to provide additional information.
Carter said the eight previous Parent Expos have been very successful in exposing parents to all the Pike County School System offers its students. She said Pam Franklin, instructional support specialist, has put together an outstanding Expo that will be of benefit to all who attend.
“We have averaged about 800 people at the Expos and most of those have been parents,” Carter said. “We encourage all parents with children in the Pike County School System to come out tonight, visit the showcases and mingle with school personnel, who will be able to answer any questions they might have.”
