The Burning Bush Cowboy Church will present Pro Bulls & Barrels at Cattleman Park Arena Friday and Saturday. The gates for this exciting event will open at 5 p.m. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.

“Bulls and barrels are what everybody goes to a rodeo to see – the thrills and spills of the bulls and the pretty ladies and fast horses,” said Don Smith, Burning Bush Cowboy Church. “We’ll have 20 bull riders each night and rodeo fans will actually get to see 25 rides each night because the top five bull riders will come back for a second ride.”

Smith said 10 cowgirls will run barrels each night.

“The cowboys and cowgirls are all professionals and they come from all across the Southeast so it will be a fun and exciting Pro Bulls and Barrels rodeo.”
On Friday night only, the rodeo will feature a Mutton Bustin’ event for kids, 60 pounds and under.

“The Mutton Bustin’ will be limited to 10 participants,” Smith said. “The gates open at 5 p.m. and we’ll begin to register the kids as soon as the gates open.”

The Mutton Bustin’ is an introduction to bull riding and the event is run just like a bull riding event.

“Mutton Bustin is training of sorts for kids,” Smith said. “It’s a way to get them interested in rodeo and in bull riding. They start on sheep, move up to steers, then small bulls and bulls. Mutton Bustin’ is a fun event for the kids and it’s good for rodeo.”

The Rev. Alvie Walker, pastor of the Burning Bush Cowboy Church, will share a short message and church members will be available for anyone who needs to talk or would like to know more about the Burning Bush Cowboy Church and its ministry.

Concessions for Pro Bulls & Barrels will be provided by Santa Fe Cattle Company.

Tickets for the Southeastern Professional Rodeo Association sanctioned rodeo are $10 in advance and $12 at the gate. Ages 12 and under are admitted free.
