Archers compete at regionals

The Alabama National Archery in the Schools Program took flight in Troy, AL on February 9-10 at the Troy Recreation Department. This is the 1st of nine tournaments that will take place in Alabama. Teams and individuals were vying for a slot in the State Tournament that will be held on April 7 in Montgomery, AL.
Two hundred fifty –seven (257) archers from Highlands Elementary of Dothan, Houston Academy, Banks Middle (Pike Co), Goshen Elementary, Carroll High, Charles Henderson Middle, Charles Henderson High and Troy Elementary participated.
In the elementary division: Troy Elementary was first followed by Highlands and Goshen while Charles Henderson Middle took first place in their division followed by Banks and Goshen. Charles Henderson High took first in the high school division followed by Houston Academy and Carroll High of Ozark.
In the elementary school division Honor Shipman from Troy Elementary School took home first place with Mary Samson also from Troy Elementary finishing in second. In the boys division Beaux Mizell from Troy Elementary School took home first place.
In the middle school girl division another Troy Elementary student took home the championship in Tatum Brooks. It was a clean sweep for Troy in the division as Kassidy Mizell from CHMS and Lily Ryan from TES rounded out the top three. It was the same thing on the boys side as Noah Prestwood from CHMS took the top prize with Caleb Watkins of CHMS and Kevin Yeoman from TES finished in second and third.
The high school division was no different as Abigail Salmon, Abbie Barron and Lindsey Fox finished in the top three and on the boys side Brandon Cain, Kush Patel and Gus Hughes finished 1-2-3 on the boys side.
