Veterans workshop offered at courthouse

In an effort to help and support American’s veterans, the Central Alabama Veteran Health Care Systems will present the Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Mobile Outreach program from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday at the Pike County Courthouse.
Pike County Veterans Affairs Officer Randy Ross said the HCHV program is a plan designed to end homelessness among veterans.
The program offers various services to assist homeless veterans with access to financial assistance referrals, social work services and substance abuse and mental health counseling.
“During the mobile outreach event, the homeless team will provide outreach and education to veterans,” Ross said.
Others in support of the HCHV program include social workers, registered nurses, peer support specialists vocational rehabilitation specialists, housing specialists and recreational therapists.
