The Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library will celebrate National Library Week with a Show Off Car and Truck Show and a whole lot more on Saturday, April 8.
Theresa Trawick, library director, said the car and truck show will be a main attraction of the National Library Week celebration but there won’t be just one main attraction.
“This will be a ‘Family Day’ event,” Trawick said. “We will also have an Easter egg hunt for young children. The Easter Bunny will be here and parents are invited to bring their cameras for photos. We’ll have different games for children– and we’ll have food and music for everyone.”
The Show Off Car and Truck Show and other events will be held on the library grounds and surrounding areas from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Barbecue sandwiches and drinks will be available from 11 a.m. until noon.
“You don’t have to pre-register to enter a vehicle in the car and truck show,” Trawick said. “Registration will be the morning of the show and this is a ‘show.’ It’s not a competition; it’s a show-off show.”
Trawick said everyone is invited to bring their blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a fun day in celebration of National Library Week and Family, which is sponsored by the City of Brundidge, the Robert E. Barr Nutrition Center and the Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library.
The National Library Week will also be observed at the library’s April Brown Bag program at noon on Tuesday, April 18.
Trawick will present “A History of Libraries Through the Ages” which will be an interesting and entertaining look at how libraries have changed as times have changed.
The Tupper Lightfoot Memorial Library will host a “Digitizing History Party” from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 29.
“Everyone is invited to bring their photos and documents about Brundidge community history, Brundidge family history and Brundidge church history and watch as we make digital copies of these historic items,” Trawick said. “The Digitizing History Party is an effort to bring our community together, as adults and students, to share our community and family histories and to increase our appreciation of history, community and family.”
In other areas of interest at the library, Trawick announced the winners in the library’s adult reading event –Barbara Joachim, grand prize, and Ann Baker and Jeanne Jones.
The Saturday Movie Morning for April will be “Moana” and will be shown at 10 a.m.
The library’s regular programs will continue as scheduled with pre-school programs at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays, home school programs at 10:30 a.m. on Thursdays, Teen Time Tuesday at 4 p.m. and After School Tutoring for grades one through six from 3:30 until 4:45 on Thursdays.
