A Cook Out restaurant will be opening in Troy.
Mayor Jason Reeves said Tuesday the restaurant company has plans to open a location on U.S. 231 in Troy at the site of the former Trojan Zone. Demolition of the existing building has been underway this week.
“I really don’t have a lot of details I can share, but it’s always exciting to see Troy getting new businesses,” Reeves said. “We’re excited for them.”
The North Carolina-based restaurant is known for its burgers, barbecue, hot dogs and milkshakes. The company currently operates two restaurants in Alabama: one in Tuscaloosa and another in Jacksonville. An Auburn location is also planned.
The company originated in Greensboro, N.C., in 1989, and is located throughout the Southeast.
