The Pike Lady Patriots dropped their second consecutive game on Tuesday morning when they fell to the Evangel Christian Lions 39-26 on day two of the Lee-Scott Tournament in Auburn.

“We have had 21 turnovers in the last two games. You can’t win like that,” said head coach Chris Garner. “We have to do a better job at keeping possession of the ball. It was first game jitters yesterday. We rebounded and played better today. We are still green and we are learning as we go.”

The loss for the Patriots drops their record on the season to 0-2.

The Patriots buried themselves in a hole in the opening half when they were outscored in the opening quarter 13-2 and 8-7 in the second quarter to enter the locker room at halftime trailing 20-10.

“We came out and shot the ball decent in the first quarter,” Garner said. “The ball just wasn’t going in.”

The Patriots battled back in the second half and by keeping pace with the Lions, but it wasn’t enough to counter their early deficit.

Tiffany Johnson was the only player to finish in double figures on Tuesday with 10 points. Ansley Adams flirted with double-figures, finishing with 8 points. Sarah Todd Floyd finished with 6 points, while Eden hipps had 2.

The Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Autauga following the conclusion of the junior varsity game, which begins at 4 p.m.
