Virginia H. Brown

Virginia H. Brown, 92, of Troy, died at her home following a brief illness Thursday, February 15, 2018. Virginia was a dietician for the Goshen Elementary School for 18 years. She loved all her Goshen babies. She was an active member of the Hephzibah Baptist Church and served as the church librarian. She loved to paint, draw, Crochet and cook for her family. In general, Virginia loved all people and was loved by all.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by her children; Sam Brown of Troy,; Steve (Nancy) Brown of Troy, Bobby (Charla) Brown of Troy, Lee Ann (Mike) Allen of Birmingham, Margaret (Ray) Catrett of Troy, Rena’ Averrett of Enterprise, Carol Baker of Troy and Sandra Wilkes of Troy; her grandchildren, Louis Brown, Kenny Brown, Aletha Thomas, Kristy Brown, Wendy Brown, Perry Brown, Ginger Brown, Deann Stephens, Matthew Brown, Micah Brown, Andrew Mills, Sydney Allen, Christopher Madaris, Maggie Downs, Abigail Kles, Anna Harrington, Amberlyn Baker and Ashleigh Baker; 11 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Brown Sr.; parents, Samuel and Aletha Snyder; sons, William Thomas “Billy” Brown Jr., Bert Brown; grandchildren, James Brown and Jesse Brown; sister, Lela Howe; brothers Halroyd Howe and Pat Howe; daughter-in-law Sue Price Brown; and brother-in-law James David Averrett.
Memorial may be made to the Hephzibah Baptist Church, 27801 Henderson Highway, Troy, AL 36079.
