The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans played to a 6-6 tie on Thursday evening in Troy. The game ultimately lasted nine innings before the two coaches decided to call it quits.
Molly Kate Sanders took the ball as the Trojans starter. Sanders threw four innings and allowed 3 total runs, only one of which were earned. She allowed just two hits and struck out four.
The game began the same way it ended, with zeroes on the scoreboard.
In the fourth both teams jumped on the scoreboard by scoring three runs a piece.
Sydni Garrett came in to score the Trojans first run on a bunt single by Whittaka Lowery. Sanders followed suit with a two-run single to even the game up at 3.
After Lamp retook the lead with a run in the top of the sixth, the Trojans answered immediately with a two-run bottom of the sixth. Emma Kirkpatrick hit a two-run homerun with two outs in the inning to put the Trojans on top.
For a moment it looked like Lamp stuck a dagger in the Trojans when they scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take a one-run lead at 7-6. For the third time in the game the Trojans responded immediately with a run of their own on a Garrett homerun to send the game into extra innings. Neither team could crack the scoreboard over the next two innings leading to a tie.
The Trojans will be back in action today in the Wicksburg Tournament.
