Patriots take out Autauga in round one

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots knocked off Autauga Academy 6-3 in the opening round of the Macon East Tournament on Thursday evening.
The win for the Patriots improves their record on the season to 15-2.
Nate Renfroe got the start for the Bulldogs. Renfroe pitched all seven innings and allowed three runs, none of which were earned. He struck out eight batters.
The Patriots finished with six hits led by Cole McWhorter who went 2-2 with an RBI. Cody Hollis, Wood Jinright, Trevor Barron and Max Copeland all had one hit.
The Patriots took a 3-2 lead into the fourth inning. In the fourth, the Patriots stretched their lead out to four when they put up three runs.
Wood Jinright singled to right to score Max Copeland for the inning’s first run. Jade Sikes came around to score on a balk and Reed Jinright drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly to left to bring the score to 6-3.
The Patriots will be back in action today to take on the winner of Lowndes and Hooper at 1 p.m.
