All-Stars begin this week

The Troy Recreation All-Star season is upon us and seven local baseball teams hope to stamp their names as the city’s next great team.
Three teams will hope to clinch a spot in the state tournament when play begins at the Troy Sportsplex on Thursday. The Troy AA Rookie team will begin district play on field 2 at the Sportsplex. They will be joined by Kinston, Eufaula, Enterprise National and Enterprise American. Troy will take on Enterprise American beginning at 8 p.m.
The Troy AAA American Team will be joined by the Troy AAA National team on Field 3 at the Sportsplex. The Troy Americans will kick off the tournament with a game against Eufaula at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The Troy Nationals will play their first game on Friday against the Troy Americans beginning at 8 p.m.
The Ozone Rookies will be the final local team to play at home. They will be in a three-team double-elimination tournament along with Eufaula and Enterprise. Troy will take on Eufaula in game one beginning at 8 p.m.
While three tournaments will be happening in Troy, three more will be in Luverne. The 6U team will open up play against Hartford beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday and they will be followed by Eufaula taking on Luverne at 7:15. Two Troy Dixie Minor teams will also play in Luverne. The Troy Americans will take on Greenville beginning at 4 and the Troy Nationals will take on Andalusia beginning at 6 p.m. They will be joined in the regional by Luverne and Coffee County.
The Troy Ozone team will take on Luverne at 8 p.m. at Daniel Field in Luverne.
Troy will have one team play in Jack beginning on Thursday. Troy’s 8U coach pitch team will make up a six-team tournament in Jack beginning on Thursday. Troy will take on Luverne beginning at 8 p.m.
The All-Star softball schedules will be released at a later date.
