Rivalry renewed: Troy AA and Ozone teams force game three

The Troy Sportsplex was center stage for the 2018 AA, AAA and Ozone District championships on Friday night.

Each series featured host Troy taking on Enterprise in a best-of-three series. Friday evening played host to games one and two and with the Troy Ozone and AA teams both earning splits on day one, game three will be played at 10 a.m. on Saturday

Enterprise had a seven-run third inning on their way to a 13-7 win over Troy.

Jackson Cleveland got the start for Troy. He pitched 3.2 innings before giving way to Kade Brookins.

Enterprise broke the ice in the bottom of the first inning when Seth Graham smashed a two-run home run to straight away center field.

Troy answered in the top half of the second when Myles Tyler ripped a double to left center to drive in Houston Gunter. Tyler came around on a wild pitch to even the score at 2.

Enterprise retook the lead in the second before Troy rallied for two more in the third. Parker Adams hit an infield single to score both Pruitt Vaughn and Cole Pugh to give Troy a 4-3 lead.

During Enterprise’s seven-run third inning, they sent 13 batters to the plate and tallied four hits including a three-run home run by Hunter Bedsole. Troy had an RBI double by Slade Renfroe and an RBI ground out by Wes Braisted to cut their deficit down to four at 10-6. Pugh came in to score on an error to bring the score to 10-7 heading to the bottom of the fourth.

Troy finished with four hits by Tyler, Pugh, Adams and Renfroe.

AA Game 1: Enterprise 7 – Troy 6

Troy lead throughout much of the contest against Enterprise, but four runs in the final inning made game two a must-win.

Troy scored four runs in the second inning when Dutch Adams, Cole Davis, Cope Russell and Parker Knick all touched home, putting Troy up 4-0. Troy entered the sixth and final inning trailing 7-4. Troy had Landon Flowers and Ridge Hicks score, but Troy came up two runs short of a comeback.

Troy finished with 11 hits. Dutch Adams and Ridge Hicks both had two hits.

AA Game 2: Troy 19- Enterprise 17

Troy survived in a must-win game against Enterprise. The win evens the series between Troy and Enterprise. Troy finished the game with 20 hits. Greyson Mathews, Landen Flowers, Ty Hughes and Parker Knick all had three hits.
