Things got wild Tuesday afternoon at the Troy Public Library.

And, the kids that were in attendance at the library’s summer program had tales to tell when they got home, “Animal Tales.”

John Ham, Animal Tales naturalist, excited, thrilled and educated a packed house of eager to learn kids with a parade of rather unusual animals and told tales about each.

There was a golden-eye tree frog from the Amazon, a kukle bird from Australia and a hissing cockroach from Madagascar. The kids were amazed that the four-eyed possum could use its “false” eyes as protection and that Daniel the wolf could run the distance of the room five times in three seconds. The huge boa that took four kids and Mr. Ham to hold had the kids wide-eyed and willing and eager to touch “a snake!”

The Troy Kiwanis Club provided the funding to bring “Animal Tales” to the TPL’s summer program. Teresa Colvin, children’s librarian, expressed appreciation to the Kiwanians for the club’s continuing support of the library and the children’s programs.
