Goshen quarterback Brock Snyder will have one more opportunity to strap on the purple and gold helmet on Thursday when the plays in the AHSAA North-South All-Star Game in Montgomery.

After a stellar senior season that ended with a trip to the state semifinals, Snyder gets an opportunity to play with the state’s best.

“I am enjoying it,” Snyder said. “It’s been great to be able to play with other people throughout the state. It’s different. They are really good. It’s crazy how a sport can bring people so close together. On the first day, we didn’t know each other and wouldn’t talk. Now it’s been two or three days and we are all really close.”

Snyder and the South All-Star team have spent a lot of time practicing, but they have also had time to have a little bit of fun between time on the field.

“We went to the Hyundai Plant to take a view of it,” Snyder said. “(Wednesday) we are going to go bowling.”

Goshen was originally the only southern team to have three players represented in the game. Zack Alford and Devin Bell were also selected to the team; however, Bell has made the move to Bowling Green, Kentucky to begin his work with Western Kentucky and Alford is recovering from a past injury.

Snyder worked hard his entire career to get this point and now that he is in this game, he feels like he belongs.

“It’s a great experience,” Snyder said. “It’s good to know that I am considered to be one of the better players because I worked hard my whole high school year in order to get noticed. It’s nice to know that the work that I have put in has been noticed.”

Leading up to game day, Snyder believes he has had some good practices while some have not gone as well. He hopes to put on a good show this evening.

“I hope so, but you can never tell,” Snyder said. “Some practices have been really good and some have been kind of difficult to grasp everything.”

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Crampton Bowl.
