A Troy man was found stabbed to death late Thursday night and officers have arrested a suspect in the murder.
Police were called out to the scene of Autumn Ridge Apartments in the 400 block of North Knox Street at approximately 10 p.m. Thursday night, where they found 33-year-old Carl Burney on the floor in the doorway of his residence suffering from stab wounds. He died at the scene.
Domeka Kekar McKenzie, 41, of Troy, has been charged with murder in connection to the fatal stabbing.
“The subsequent investigation revealed Burney was outside his residence when McKenzie approached him with a knife and stabbed him in the chest and back,” said Troy Police Chief Randall Barr. “McKenzie then fled from the residence in a silver Chevrolet Equinox.”
Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Henderson Highway within the hour and they were able to detain McKenzie and another individual inside the SUV. The vehicle was impounded.
The investigation continued throughout the night and police were able to obtain the murder warrant on McKenzie and booked him into the Pike County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
