The Goshen Lady Eagles wiped out Highland Home in their last area game of the season Monday night.
GHS defeated the Flying Squadron 9-3 at Highland Home for the second time this year.
Head Coach Dee Hughes said the Eagles didn’t start off strong Monday, but they quickly picked up slack by the fifth inning.
“We didn’t hit right away,” Hughes said. “Pitching was a little slower than anticipated, but when we got disciplined we started hitting.” The first hit of the game was made by Monica Slater, who led the game with a double in the first inning. She was scored by Rachel Senn’s hit.
Ally Warrick hit a triple in the second inning and was scored by Caitlin Thomas’s double.
Other hits were made by Shelby Vinsion and Amanda Griggs.
Senn, Warrick, Thomas and Vinsion were all two for three in the game.
Now, the Eagles will prepare to begin area tournaments next weekend.
“I feel real good going into the area,” Hughes said. “If we can hit the ball and get timely hitting we should do well.”
