The Messenger Kids’ Corner at this year’s TroyFest is inviting all kids to come to the land of creativity at Imagination Islands.

Kids Corner Committee Chairman Melissa Sanders said Imagination Island’s purpose is to expose young children to a variety of art mediums.

“We are working really hard this year to encourage young artist’s creativity,” Sanders said.

According to Sanders, this year promises to have bigger and better activities with five islands where imaginations can soar.

The “Newspaper Origami” island is incorporating TroyFest’s mission to go green by allowing children to create origami figures using newspapers donated by The Messenger.

Another island children can visit is “Streetside Murals” where children will be able to create unique masterpieces and temporarily decorate downtown with sidewalk chalk and paint. Sanders said this will give children the opportunity to put their own mark on the streets of TroyFest.

Other islands available will be Bead It, Mosaic Marvels and Sand Art.

Activities are limited to children under 10, and they must be accompanied by an adult.

Other activities and features in the Kids’ Corner include bounce houses, a train, puppets and many other with kids’ activities sponsored by community organizations.

Sanders said she hopes everyone will come and enjoy TroyFest and the Kids’Corner.

“Come and join in on the best deal in Troy that will not only provide great entertainment but will also ignite your child’s inner artist,” Sanders said.
