TRUNK OR TREAT: Halloween festivities begin in Pike County

A week ahead of Halloween, trick or treating events are already underway in Pike County.
Families stopped by Park Memorial United Methodist Church and St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church Wednesday night to fill their baskets with candy and dress up as their favorite characters, monsters and other creative costumes.
The parking lots of both churches had members decorate their trunks to give the children a chance to “trunk or treat” early.
One trunk at St. Martin of Tours as decked out in pirate decor, complete with a Jack Sparrow look-a-like stationed to pass out he candy to happy kids.
In the Park Memorial lot, Connie McRary was dressed as “Mama Shark” and had her trunk set up to appear as if a daddy shark was opening his jaws wide to attack. The “baby shark” song played while kids got shark-shaped candies from the trunk.
There are plenty more fall events in store across the community too for anyone who wants to continue the festivities.
