Eagles advance to semifinals

The Goshen Eagles advanced to Friday’s South Regional semifinals thanks to a pair of wins on Thursday in Montgomery.
The Goshen Eagles began the day with a three-game sweep of Central-Coosa 25-16, 25-21 and 25-20.
Senior Kate Warrick finished the match with four kills, six digs, 13 assists and three aces. Senior Hannah Calhoun had two kills and 15 digs, while senior Lydia Harrison had four kills, 1 block, two digs and three aces.
Senior Jamecia Berry led the team in kills with six and she also had three blocks and two digs. Junior Molly Wares finished the match with four kills, 10 digs and one ace.
The Eagles closed out the day with a win against a familiar face in Zion Chapel 25-15, 25-15, 22-25 and 26-24.
Warrick had three aces, 15 points, six kills, 21 assists, one blocks and seven digs. Molly Wares finished with eight aces, 19 points scored, five kills and 19 digs, while Berry had seven kills and eight blocks.
Julie Johns had four points, 10 kills and two digs, while Lydia Harrison finished with two aces, seven points scored, five kills, two blocks and three digs. Hannah Calhoun had four points scored, two kills, two assists and 32 digs.
The Eagles will be back in action this afternoon when they play G.W. Long beginning at 2 p.m. A win would put the Eagles in the championship match beginning at 5 p.m.
