FOREVER FLOWERS: Adams Glass crafts potted glass plants for Valentine’s Day

About a year ago, someone asked David Adams to create a bouquet of Forget-Me-Nots in stained glass. That was the beginning of what has become a garden of flowering stained glass.
Adams, the son of glass artist, Charles Adams, decided there might be a market for “potted” stained glass flowers, so just in time for Valentine’s Day, he and his dad have created a variety of stained glass potted plants – forget-me-nots, tulips, roses, cactus, canna lilies and a few surprises.
“After the lady asked me to design and make the forget-me-nots, I started thinking that stained glass potted plants would last a lifetime,” Adams said. “They are easy to care for. They don’t need feeding or watering. They do well in the shade or the sun. The leaves don’t shed and they ‘bloom’ year around. Stained glass potted plants are perfect for those who don’t have a green thumb.”
The stained glass flowers will be in full “bloom” at the annual Valentine’s Day event at Adams Glass Studio all day on Saturday, February 9 and from 1 until 4 p.m. Sunday, February 10.
“It’s just an event,” Charles Adams said. “Every year, for I don’t know how long, we’ve been inviting folks to stop by and visit with us the weekend before or of Valentine’s Day. It’s supposed to be the weekend for sweethearts but it’s also a time for families and friends to enjoy being together.”
Adams said Valentine’s Day has not yet been commercialized to the point that it’s a hassle.
“A chocolate bar and a cola will get you by,” he said, laughing.
The Adams family invites everyone to stop by for a visit over the weekend and see what blooming at the studio.
