The Pike Patriots will be well-represented in the AISA All-Star basketball game in Montgomery.
Seniors, Max Copeland, Jade Sikes and Cody Hollis will be joined by cheerleader Emmy Stevens later this week at Montgomery’s Crampton Bowl Multiplex.
The Patriots are coming off a trip to their first semifinal in many years earlier this month and the play of Copeland, Sikes and Hollis played a big factor in their appearance.
The Patriots fell to Bessemer in the semifinals, but thanks to the play of their three senior all-stars, the future of the basketball program looks bright.
“They have done it all year long,” said head coach Allen Ponder. “They have carried us all year long. Like I told them after the game, we are going to walk out of here with our heads held high because they have started to develop a winning program. They have a lot of excitement towards our program and we have never had that. I contribute all of that to our seniors. Our seniors get all of that credit. They set the bar high and now we have to ask the guys to come back and do it again next year.”
This will be Stevens’ second all-star appearance this school year. She attended the all-star football game in Montgomery last November.
The All-Star game will be on Friday beginning at 7 p.m.
