This weekend kids will have the opportunity to get hands on with learning at the “Touch-A-Truck” event in downtown Troy.
“Trucks and vehicles from the City of Troy and other companies will be out there … kids will be able to ask questions, learn hands-on and do things they don’t usually get to do,” said City of Troy Special Projects coordinator Leigh Anne Windham. “There will be other activities going on around the Square as well.”
The Touch-A-Truck line up will include the City of Troy’s police unit, fire engine and medic one, tractor, recycling truck, utility bucket truck; Bishop and Company’s dump truck; Jacob’s Towing tow truck; and Southern Concrete’s truck.
“Our driver is really excited to go out there and show what our truck can do,” said Ricky Bishop from Bishop and Company. “This one is not a showroom truck and will be the real deal for kids to see. We are just really looking forward to be there and think the kids are really going to enjoy it.”
Vehicles will be parked in the parking lot adjacent to Byrd’s Drugs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free to the public “We always want to make sure we have events that are a little bit for everyone downtown,” Windham said.
