Trojans fall in tourney

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans put up a valiant comeback against Pleasant Valley on Wednesday morning, but ultimately fell 6-4, ending their run in the Gulf Shores Tournament.
The Trojans found themselves down 6-0 early before scoring the next four over the course of the final three innings. Their comeback attempt came up two runs short after they struck out three times to end the game in the fourth inning.
The Trojans picked up one win in the tournament, coming on Tuesday against Guntersville. The Trojans are 9-10 overall this season.
Emma Kirkpatrick and Sydni Garrett both got on the mound on Wednesday. Both pitchers pitched two innings. Kirkpatrick allowed six runs on seven hits, she struck out one. Garrett pitched the final two innings without allowing a hit, while walking two. She struck out three.
Heather Maxwell, Kirkpatrick, Graci Williams, AJ May and Gracie Sneed all had one hit for the Trojans.
Pleasant Home scored all six of their runs in the second inning. They scored their first run of the game on a home run to left field. In all, Pleasant Valley had seven hits including two doubles. Pleasant Valley had four batters reach with a hit.
The Trojans got three of the runs back in the bottom of the inning. Maxwell reached on an error that allowed both Dakota Berry and Sneed to score. One batter later, Maxwell came around to score on a double by Kirkpatrick to bring the score to 6-3.
The Trojans jumped a little closer in the bottom of the third inning. May singled to center to drive in Sadie Leverette, bringing the score to 6-4.
The Trojans will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to take on Rehobeth in area play beginning at 5 p.m.
