Both the Charles Henderson baseball and softball teams were in action at Hogan’s Hole on Thursday afternoon.

The Charles Henderson Trojans scored 11 runs in the first inning and rode it to a 17-7 win over Carroll on senior day at Hogan’s Hole.

The Trojans picked up seven hits in the first inning, including run-producing doubles by Lawson Scarbrough, Cole McWhorter, Caden Bryan and Brock Huner. The Trojans also had RBI singles by Keonte Brantley and Jackson Giles. By inning’s end, the Trojans held an 11-0 lead.

Huner got the start for the Trojans. Huner pitched five innings and allowed three earned runs, six total on eight hits. He struck out five batters. Giles pitched the final inning of the shortened game.

The Trojans finished with 16 hits led by Giles, who went a perfect 4-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. McWhorter finished with three hits, while Chance Pollard and Huner had two.

The Trojans stretched their lead to 13-1 before, the Eagles scored six straight runs to cut their deficit to 6 runs. The Trojans officially put the game out of reach in the sixth when they tacked on four more runs. Giles had a one-out double and came around to score on a Huner sacrifice fly. Following a Scarbrough walk, McWhorter hit a three-run home run to give the Trojans a 10-run lead, which ended the game.

A four-run fifth inning for Northview put the game out of reach in the Lady Trojans’ 9-2 loss on Thursday.

Northview scored three runs in the first followed by two more runs in the second. They had their biggest innings when they scored four runs in both the fifth and sixth inning.

The Trojans jumped on the board with a run in the second on a groundout by AJ May. They tacked on another run in the fourth on a Heather Maxwell groundout.

The Trojans tried to fight back again in the sixth inning when Emma Kirkpatrick hit a two-run home run to bring the score to 13-4. They scored one final run in the seventh when Dakota Berry scored on a wild pitch.

The Trojans finished the game with seven hits. Both Madison Stewart and McKenzie Cain picked up two hits in the loss.
